DiSC PROFILING
DiSC IS ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY USED AND HIGHLY VALIDATED PROFILING TOOLS OF IT’S
KIND (WITH OVER 90% ACCURACY) AND IS USED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES
AROUND THE WORLD. THE DiSC MODEL WAS DEVISED BY RENOWNED PSYCHOLOGIST
WILLIAM MARSTON. HE WAS INTERESTED IN USING PRACTICAL EXPLANATIONS TO HELP
PEOPLE UNDERSTAND AND MANAGE THEIR EXPERIENCES AND RELATIONSHIPS.
He suggested that behavioural expression of emotions could be categorised into four primary groups, stemming from the person’s own perceptions of themselves in his or her environment.
These four types were labelled:
Dominance (D), Influence (I), Steadiness (S) and Conscientiousness (C).
Once you’re aware what your preferred style is, you’ll have a powerful insight into how best to relate to, both personally and professionally.
DiSC can also help the workplace be a happier space. By creating more enjoyable and effective interactions, employees can become more collaborative, leading to improved colleague relationships, culture
and ultimately, productivity.
The key benefits of DiSC in the workplace:
Personal development
It helps individuals understand themselves and creates strategies to improve their personal interactions. The profile offers insight on the most productive behaviours as well as those that may create problems.
Motivation
Once you know your employees’ dominant personality traits, you can tailor your processes to tap into their specific strengths. You can use their preferred style to motivate them by creating goals they’ll want to achieve.
Better onboarding
Businesses use personality profiling to assess how new hires could fit within the team. Results can have a positive influence on how you approach orientation and training to ensure any new team member is getting the most out of the process. Plus, you’ll get a better understanding of how they’ll interact with the existing team.
Team building
DiSC is a fantastic tool to gain a better understanding of yourself and others around you.
It reveals how different styles interact with one another, helping you to build more harmonious, productive teams of people.
